Base Pay Range
$112,750.00/yr - $186,550.00/yr

Associate Counsel – California Courts and First Party Insurance Defense
Location – Remote
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
- Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
- Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath; defend by trial or dispositive hearing on all assigned matters
Qualifications
- 2–6+ years of related litigation experience in insurance/defense or personal injury (required)
- Juris Doctor degree (required)
- Admission to the California Bar (required)
- License in good standing to practice law in California and maintain mandatory Continuing Legal Education requirements
- Ability to travel as required, including for trials, hearings, depositions, meetings, and conferences
- Strong written communication skills to document files clearly and professionally for customers, clients, and coworkers
- Ability to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, and prioritize tasks with strong organization and multi‑tasking skills
- Capacity to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information
Preferred Qualifications
- Civil litigation experience
- Insurance defense–related litigation experience
- Professional communication skills in person, via telephone, and written correspondence/email
Annual Salary
$112,750.00 - $186,550.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are considered to determine the final hourly rate/annual salary offered to the selected candidate, including scope and responsibilities, work experience, education and training, work location, and market and business considerations.
